To celebrate my 20th birthday my parents treated me to an exquisite meal at Edmund's Fine Dining Restaurant in Bringley Place Birmingham. This was my first time at the restaurant but I would definitely return (hopefully as another treat from my parents) ;)
THE LOOK
The courses at Edmund's are simply tiny packages of stunning eye-gasms! Although the portions look tiny, they certainly fill you up! As it is served each dish comes with a personal description of what each element is and how to eat them. However, as amazing as they look I was disappointed to see that I only had ONE fondant potato with my main course!! Most disappointing was my cocktail! I ordered a French Martini thinking it would be the perfect instagram cocktail but I have to say I was rather let down.

THE TASTE
WOW!!! All six courses were outstanding! Course 1: Mushroom veloute. This was a complimentary amuse bouche and was just so creamy and rich that I was sad when it was all gone. Course 2: Scallops with mushroom puree and white asparagus. Again this was another rich dish but the flavour combinations were astounding and I even finished of the extra puree my mum had somehpw managed to leave! Course 3: Fillet of beef (rare) with ONE fondant potato and parsnip puree. The beef was cooked perfectly, in fact I didn't even need a steak knife to cut it, it simply melted in my mouth and it went perfectly with the sweet parsnip puree. The potato was just so rich and buttery but sadly I was only give one. :( Course 4: Lemon Posset with a raspberry jelly. Again this course was complimentary but it still tasted as good as the others. It was very tart, which I loved but the rest of the family weren't so keen unless they ate it with the jelly. Course 5: Orange and Cointreau Souffle with Chocolate Ice-Cream. Unfortunately this was my least favourite course of the night. Without the ice cream all you could really taste was egg as the orange and Cointreau weren't strong flavours. Course 6: Coffee and Birthday Treat. I ordered a double espresso, which was as fresh and strong as you'd expect. The complimentary birthday treat was unlike anything I've been given. There were strawberry macaroons, pistachio macaroons, fudge, shortbread, and jellies. The fudge was the BEST fudge I have ever had, it was just so buttery and rich! <3 Finally the cocktail! Just like its appearance, the taste also let me down. It's one of the weakest cocktails I've had and all I could really taste was orange juice.

THE PLACE
The place was a lot smaller and lighter than I expected yet it still oozed refinement and class. The reception from the staff was very warm and welcoming, as was the service throughout the night. We were fortunate enough to be given a seat in the window, making people watching the entertainment of the evening! Being my usual clumsy self I managed to knock over my class of prosecco but I was immediately brought another full glass at no extra charge. As I mentioned earlier I wasn't keen on the souffle so without even the slightest suggestion it was taken off the bill! Also the flooring here is CARPET making it the perfect place to wear HEELS! I will definitely be returning here not only for the outstanding food but also for some I have best service I have ever had.
